Nesting HOPS in CU-POM -- 04 October

The HOPS Primitive Equation model was re-initialized with the data gathered through October second and forced with atmospheric fluxes from FNMOC. Two nested runs were made, one with 1-way nesting between CU-POM and the HOPS Channel domain and the other with 2-way nesting between the HOPS domains.

The results presented below show temperature, salinity and total velocity vectors at the surface. Overlain on these fields are the 50, 200 and 500m isobaths.

These are preliminary results. One of the most obvious effects of adding the CU-POM boundary fields is the presence of the warm, salty region entering from the North, along Italy.
